Obituary for Richard A Crateau

Beverly - Richard A. Crateau 96, beloved husband of the late Theresa A. (Kozak) Crateau, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at home.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Alexander and Ida (Deschenes) Crateau. He was raised in Beverly and received his education in the Beverly school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Corp.
Mr. Crateau had been employed for thirty five years as a machinist at the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly until the time of his retirement.
A resident of Beverly for most of his life, he enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and golf. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Lawrence R. Crateau of Castleton, VT, a daughter-in-law, Janet Crateau of North Andover, four granddaughters, Jacquelyn, Christine, Katherine and Cynthia, a step-grandson, John Surette and several nieces and nephews including, Elaine Crateau of Beverly, Ted Crateau of FL, Neil Crateau of Knoxville, TN, Raymond Crateau of NH, Daniel Crateau of Danvers and Ralph Benedetti of Hamilton. He was also the brother of the late Beatrice Crateau, Flora Benedetti, Maryanne Crateau, Loraine Wolfe, Theodore, Robert and Raymond Crateau.
His Funeral Service will be held graveside at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, 106 Brimbal Ave., Beverly, Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
