Obituary for Richard L. Freyman

Richard L. Freyman Jr., 91, husband of the late Grace M. (Smith) Freyman, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Richard L. Freyman Sr. and Margaret A. (Barnes) Freyman.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Freyman had been employed by the City of Beverly at the Beverly Library until the time of his retirement. He had also worked for over twenty five years at Swift & Company and prior to that at the General Electric Company Iron Work’s Plant in Lynn.
Dedicated to physical fitness and an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing, swimming, skiing and boating. He was also a member of the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly and the Knights of Columbus Veragua Council #76 in Salem. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving him are three daughters, Sharon Rein and her husband, David of Beverly, Donna J. Carr and her husband, Francis W. Carr Jr. of Merrimac and Grace M. Egan and her husband, Joseph of Beverly, a son, Richard L. Freyman III of Beverly, six grandchildren, Shannon Trask and her husband, Gary, Shane Rein and his wife, Julie, Rocky Rein, Ashlee Egan, Ryan Egan and Francis W. Carr III, eight great grandchildren, Kyle, Brady and Kali Trask, Matthew, Michael, Charlotte & Vivienne Rein and Dallas Rein and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Robert Freyman and brother of the late Margaret A. Freyman McInnis and Mary Freyman Page-Grant.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, Wednesday, January 29 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell - Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
