Robert J. Ludden passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

He is predeceased by his father Bernard, who served as a policeman, and his mother Bertha. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. (McKeon) Ludden with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, his sons, Robert J. Ludden, Jr. of Malden, Michael J. Ludden of Hamilton and John P. Ludden and his wife Louise of Rowley, MA; his 2 daughters, Jeanne M. Civiello of Hampton, NH and Sheila M. Lamb and her husband Daniel of Westford, MA. He also leaves a sister, Alice McGuire of Plymouth and six grandchildren.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School and Saint Mary's High School, Lynn, Mass. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. After his military service, he completed a bachelors degree at Suffolk University.

He was employed with U.S Department of Defense for 43 years. In 1989, he retired from his job as an industrial specialist with the DOD and was presented with the Distinguished Career Award.

He was also very handy. He had an extensive tool collection and did most auto and home repairs/construction on his own by relying on his mechanical aptitude and do-it-yourself repair books.

His Catholic faith was important to him. He served as a lector, president of the Holy Name Society, and member of Right-to-Life committees. He was also a member of Mass. Citizens for Life and the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed camping, photography, politics, music, and playing with his dogs. His favorite past time, however, was spending time with his family. His loyalty and commitment to his family was unquestioned. Friends and family will miss his easy smile and selfless way.
