Stanley J. Putur, Sr., age 86 years, husband of the late Evelyn M. (MacDonald) Putur, died on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Brigham Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Newburyport. Born in Ipswich, he was the son of the late Valentine and Frances (Ckrzela) Putur. He has resided in Beverly the past 57 years.
Mr. Putur attended Ipswich High School and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. After his service, he attended many Engineering Schools and trained as an Electrical Engineer. Stanley worked for the U.S. Military as a Nuclear Submarine Engineer for the Boston and Portsmouth Naval Shipyards. He was a talented golfer and was a longtime member of the Wenham Country Club.
Surviving him are his children, Gary Putur of Beverly, John Putur of Gloucester, Kathy Telge and her husband Mark of Manchester, New Hampshire, Gale Alexander of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Mary Foy of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; his daughter-in-law, Linda Putur; his grandchildren, Kelley, Meghan, Emily, Jonathan, Ashley, Arsha, Aviana, Chelsea, Matthew, William, Nicole, Noell, and Samantha. He was also father of the late Clark Putur and brother of the late Chucky, Zigmont, and Steve Putur.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Beverly.
