Obituary for Theresa C. Carlson

– Mrs. Theresa C. (Carty) Carlson, beloved wife of John H. Carlson, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Jamaica Plain, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen (Moran) Carty. She received her education in the Boston Public school system and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School.
A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Mrs. Carlson was a CCD teacher at the former Saint Alphonsus Church in Danvers. She was one of the original cross guards for the Town of Danvers and was a monitor at the Riverside School and transferred to the Williams School when her youngest son was enrolled there.
She was frequently and affectionately known as “Mom” by several of the area children because that is what her sons called her. Mrs. Carlson enjoyed dining out which she did several times a week. She had a quick wit about her and you often knew where she was because of the laughter coming from her direction.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Anne Stewart and her husband, Richard of North Reading, three sons, Stephen Carlson of Danvers, William Carlson and his wife, Joanne of Danvers and Paul Carlson and his wife, Laurie of Hudson, NH, twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, three sisters, Rita Murphy of Newton, Eleanor Svehlak of MD and Dorothy Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, a brother, Joseph Carty of Quincy and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late John D. Carlson and Kenneth Carlson and sister of the late Mary Mullen, Agnes Lyons, Anne Barry and John, Thomas and Walter Carty.
