Obituary for Virginia Mary Hyland

Virginia M. Hyland, formerly a resident of Manchester, MA, died following a long illness on September 23, 2016, in Milford, NH. She was 97 years old.
Ginny Hyland was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who spent her life devoted to her family. She greatly enjoyed working on her intricate and beautiful knitting and embroidery handwork, and baking for her family and friends. She passed her baking recipes on to her daughters, who continue her tradition at the Hollis Country Kitchen in Hollis, NH.
Ginny was born in Dorchester, MA on May 9, 1919 the oldest of five children of Harry C. and Sara (O’Malley) Crosby.
While working in Manchester, MA, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Joseph M. Hyland, who she married on October 3, 1942 and they were married for 67 years before Joe’s death in 2009.
Ginny and Joe raised their family in Manchester before moving to New Hampshire to be closer to their daughters, Sally McDonough and Catherine Hyland.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Peter Hyland and Edward Hyland.
Ginny is survived by her children, Joseph M. Hyland, Jr. and his wife Anne Hyland of Concord, NH, Sally A. McDonough and her husband Frank of Hollis, NH, Catherine Hyland, of Nashua, NH, and daughters-in-law Robin Bixby-Hyland of Bennington, NH and Dyann Hyland of Baytown, TX; grandchildren Francis McDonough, Joseph and Marianne McDonough, Virginia McDonough and her children Connor and Siobhan, Alexander Roukas, John Roukas, Christos Roukas, Joseph Roukas, Sara Hyland and her children Colin and Abigail, Patrick Hyland, Daniel Hyland, Brendan Hyland, Catherine Hyland, Caitlyn Hyland, Dillon Hyland and Emilee Hyland all of New Hampshire, Joseph Hyland of California, Michael Hyland and Wendy Hyland, Karen and Thomas Knudsen, all of Texas.
Ginny was also predeceased by her parents Harry C. and Sara Crosby, siblings Pauline Dechene, Harry Crosby, Joan Brissette, John Crosby.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on September 28 at Sacred Heart Church, Manchester, MA, with burial following in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Manchester. There are no calling hours. Arrangements will be provided by Campbell, Lee, Moody, Russel Funeral Home, Beverly, MA.
