Mr. Wilbur S. “Stew” Holden Jr. 60, beloved husband of Judith E. (O’Hearn) Holden, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Wilbur S. Sr. and Doris M. (Caverly) Holden. He received his education in the Beverly school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Holden had been employed for twenty nine years as a firefighter for the City of Beverly until the time of his retirement in 2008.
A lifelong resident of the City of Beverly, Stew was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing. He was also a member of the Union Club in Beverly. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared twenty four years of marriage, he is survived by one sister, Elaine Bernard of NH, and eight nieces and nephews, Todd Bernard of TN, Nicole Hollenbeck of NH, Heather Bernard of NH, Peter, Justin and Nicole Reusch of Beverly, Matthew and John O’Hearn of Beverly. He was also the step son of the late Yvonne Holden.
His funeral service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Thursday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Central Cemetery, Beverly.
