Obituary for William G. Crannell

Former resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea- William G. Crannell, 85, passed away peacefully at the Brentwood Rehab and Nursing Home in Danvers. Born in Lynn, he is the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Staples) Crannell.

Bill was a graduate of Malden High School. Attended Norwich University on a full football scholarship and graduated in 1952. He was president of his class and captain of the football team. His team was inducted into the Norwich University Hall of Fame. He was also an honorary member of the Skull & Swords. Bill served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War. He worked for many years in the graphic arts industry, (Xerox, Optronics) and a proprietor of various businesses. Bill enjoyed golf, horses, boating, and fishing. He was wonderful role model and a loving and caring father, grandfather, great grandfather and will truly be missed.

He is survived by his two children: Mark Crannell and his wife Marlene of Kensington, New Hampshire and Karen Fuca and her husband Joe of Manchester-by-the-Sea; one brother: Kenneth Crannell and his wife Patricia of Saugus; five grandchildren: Heidi Kaplan and her husband Adam of Danvers, Alyssa Landry and her husband Paul of Amesbury, Brett Crannell of Kensington, New Hampshire, Michelle and Michael Fuca of Manchester-by-the-Sea; and five great grandchildren: Brady, Carter and Jace Landry and Cameron and Zackery Kaplan. He is predeceased by his brother John Crannell of Malden.

Memorial Services will be held privately at the Norwich University Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s Memory to Norwich University, 158 Harmon Dr., Northfield, VT 05663.
