Elizabeth Ann Wittig

<p>Sterling-Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Wheeler) Wittig, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Grover C. “Bud” Wittig, Jr.&nbsp; She is survived by her children &amp; their spouses, Dale W. Wittig &amp; Emily of Manassas, VA; Dean R. Wittig &amp; Laurin of Williamsburg, VA; and David N. Wittig &amp; Denise of Sterling; 5 grandchildren, Abigail Taylor, Dane, Samantha, Alexander, and Alexandria Wittig; great-granddaughter Skylar McGovern, several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.&nbsp; She is pre-deceased by her siblings, Richard Wheeler, Barbara Bailey, and Warren Lawton.&nbsp;</p><p>Betty was born in Marlborough to the late Richard &amp; Bertha (Hicks) Wheeler.&nbsp; She was raised in Bolton and was a graduate of the Clinton High School, Class of 1950.&nbsp; In addition to raising her family, Betty worked as a clerk for the US Postal Service in Bolton for many years until retiring with her husband Bud to their home in Alexander, Maine.&nbsp; Throughout her lifetime, Betty held a great passion for animals, raising and showing Morgan horses, feeding and watching neighborhood birds, and tending to her granddogs.&nbsp; She loved playing cards and was happiest while entertaining her family and friends at home.&nbsp; </p><p>A Memorial Service will be held at 12PM on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton., with a calling hour prior from 11AM-12PM.
