James Morrison Obituary

Clinton-James P. Morrison III, 81, went to his eternal reward on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 after a long illness. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, L. “Bonnie” (Wyne) Morrison; their two children, James P. Morrison IV of Oak Harbor, WA; and Christina Maher and husband James of Hull; four grandchildren, James P. Morrison V and Megan Morrison, both of Colorado Springs, CO; and Thomas and Ryan Maher of Hull. He leaves his sister, Ann Edwards of Leominster, niece Deborah Edwards; and nephew Rick Edwards & wife Lisa of Sterling; and grand-nephews Richard and Harry Edwards. Jim was also privileged to have an adopted family of 41 years, Kevin Moore & wife Karen, along with their children Mark, Alex and Erin Moore, to whom Jim was also Papa. He leaves extended family, many cousins, and dear friends.

Jim was born in Clinton to the late James & Anna (O’Toole) Morrison and was a lifelong resident. He attended St. John’s Grammar School and Clinton High School before joining the United States Air Force, where he served proudly as an Airman 2nd Class and aircraft engine mechanic until being honorably discharged in 1959. Jim returned home safely to begin his lifelong career in the automobile industry, working for many years as a salesman for Sesia Motors and several local dealerships before establishing his own business, Morrison Motor Sales, which he proudly operated until his retirement in 1997. Nearly one year later he was “plunged” from retirement into childcare, serving happily as Nanny to his first grandson James V. Jim remained an active member of his community and served numerous organizations throughout his lifetime, notably, as life member and former Trustee of the Clinton Elks Lodge, past President and officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, member of the Knights of Columbus, and as a founding member of the Leprechaun Society. Above all, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home from 5 until 7PM on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of James P. Morrison III to St. John the Evangelist Church-Restoration Fund, c/o 249 Chestnut St., Clinton, MA 01510. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
