Richard Lee Woolston Obituary

Bolton-Richard L. Woolston, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.  He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Ada (Bouterse) Woolston; their children, Mark Woolston & wife HyoJung Kang; and Tina Woolston & husband Brian Beaulieu, all of Maynard; cousin Deborah Woolston of Bremerton, WA, extended family and friends. 

Richard was born in Newton to the late Raymond & Kathryn (Smith) Woolston.  He graduated from Newton High School, studied at the University of Maine, and achieved his degree in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University.  Throughout his respected career, Dick worked with both the Devereaux Advanced Behavioral Health Center and Cutler Clinic, before establishing his long-time private practice at home in Bolton.  In addition to his practice, Dick, along with his wife Ada, founded Woolstons Woolshed, which offered a mail order catalog of the largest variety of spinning fibers in the nation.  Aside from his professional ventures, he enjoyed a great passion for the outdoors, clearing trails for many years with the Trailwrights in the Belknap Mountains of New Hampshire. He was an accomplished hiker, climber, camper, canoer, and skier, and a long-time member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, where he met his future wife, Ada.  At home in Bolton, Dick always loved to share a good story, read up on the latest world news, and tend to his collection of fish tanks and organic gardens.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the First Parish of Bolton, 673 Main St., Bolton.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard Woolston to: Jhamtse International, 25 Duggan Rd., Acton, MA 01740, or to Alzheimer’s Association of MA, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
