Mary A. LaFountain Obituary

LOWELL - Mary A. "Mickey" (Sheehan) (Bellerose) LaFountain, a resident of Lowell, and formerly of Sanford, ME, died Saturday January 24th, at her son's home surrounded by her family, following a brief battle with lung cancer. She was the beloved wife of Cyril P. LaFountain, to whom she was married for 24 years.

She was the daughter of the late Agnes (Garland) (Sheehan) Saucier and the late Timothy J. Sheehan. She was born in Lowell, MA. She attend St. Peters school, Lowell High School and the University of Lowell. Mary retired from Wang Laboratories as a MFG supervisor. She also worked at Reflecting Art in Pompano Beach, FL. After moving to Sanford, ME, Mary was a tutor for the Goodall Literacy Program and a volunteer at the Newton and Pavilion centers in Sanford.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was also an avid quilter and belonged to a quilting group in Maine Mary made many quilts for her family and several charitable organizations, such as the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital Cancer Center at Maine Medican Center and Caring Unlimited, both in Maine.

In addition to her husband and stepfather, Raymond Saucier of Lowell, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Sheryl Bellerose of Tyngsboro, and Richard and Brenda Bellerose of Nashua, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Charles Carlin, with whom she made her home Sanford, ME; two stepsons, Frank LaFountain and his wife Joann of Groton, and Steven LaFountain and his wife Leslee of Ellicott, MD; ten grandchildren, Steven Bellerose and his wife Emily of MIlfred, NH, MIchael Bellerose of Gaithersburg, MD, Christine Bellerose of Truckee, CA, Michelle Bellerose of Tyngsboro, Tayna Verfaille of Nashua, NH, Ashley Bellerose of Manchester, NH, Timothy Carlin of Kennebunk, ME, LIsa Carlin of Manchester, NH, Diane Lowe and her husband Ron of Hudson, NH, and Laurie Allain and her husband Jeff of Londonderry, NH; five great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kay Sheehan of Chatham; two sisters, Katherine Purtell of Tewksbury, and Jacqueline Blake of Davis, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Brian Bellerose who died in 2005, and the sister-in-law of the late Donald Purtell.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Wednesday from 4 until 7 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday at 8 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut.
