Theodore Kosiavelon Obituary

LOWELL,MA-Theodore Kosiavelon, lifelong resident of Lowell, MA and devoted husband of Ruth (Horton) (Johnson) Kosiavelon, passed away on November 9, 2012 at Winchester Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Theodore was born December 22, 1921 in New York City to Athanasios and Maria (Hirsch) Kosiavelon. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, earning rank SF2C as a deep sea salvage diver. During the war he received the Purple Heart as he was completing a tour of duty in the Pacific. He went on to work at Hanscom Field in the motor pool, until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Greek American Veterans, Post 1 in Lowell, MA, where he held the position of financial officer for 10 years. Theodore was also a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church. He will be fondly remembered for his integrity, honor, tenacity, loyalty, generosity and devotion to his family. Along with his wife, he is survived by his loving family: Tom Kosiavelon of Waterford, ME, Rosanne and Thomas McLaughlin of Lovell, ME, Frank Kosiavelon of NH, Joel Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Glenn and Susan (Mayotte) Johnson of Ashville, NY, Clarence Johnson and Regina Pragana of Woodstock, CT. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Jessica McLaughlin and her son Riley Egan, Sarah (McLaughlin) and Nathan Kimble and their son Alex, Ann (McLaughlin) and Andrew Lowell and their daughters Claire and Lila, Christine (Johnson) and Michael Hawkins, Gary and Ashley (Clifford) Johnson, Randy Johnson, Jason Kosiavelon and Lisa Soares and their son Travis, Christopher Kosiavelon, Katelyn Kosiavelon, Eddy Pragana and Nicole Stanley. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Zelma Kosiavelon and many nieces and nephews. Theodore was pre-deceased by his son Stephen Kosiavelon, his sister Martha Daileanes and her husband Steve, and his brother Francis “Buddy” Kosiavelon. The family is greatly appreciative of the love and care Theodore received over the past 6 months from Meadow View Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Reading, MA. Gratitude is given to Winchester Hospital in Winchester, MA, and Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston for the wonderful care he received. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, November 12th from 4 to 8 PM on at Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, Massachusetts. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday November 13th at 9 AM, followed by his funeral services at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church; 62 Lewis Street, Lowell, MA. Interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Theodore Kosiavelon to Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church “Restoration Fund”, 62 Lewis Street, Lowell, MA.
