Christine Landers Obituary

SPENCER- Christine (Talamo) Landers, 68, passed away with dignity, in her home on Wednesday August 16. Her partner of 26 years, Judy was by her side. She leaves behind Judy and the Cassanelli family, her six beloved Papillons, and her many friends, especially those in the Patriot Papillon and Mayflower Welsh Corgi Clubs and the Corgi Crew and NE Butterfly Club. Christine is survived by her two sons Michael and Shawn Landers of NH and her brother Christopher Talamo of CA. Chris was born in Queens, NY to Lili Hauters and Henry Talamo. Her parents divorced when she was young and she moved to Littleton New Hampshire and lived with her step mother Joan Bunker who raised her. Christine attended Littleton High School before she married and moved to Vermont where she had two sons Michael and Shawn, bred and showed champion Siberian Huskies, and ran her own sled dog team for many years. After a divorce, Chris moved to New Hampshire where she worked as a Veterinary Technician and later was a GM for Papa Gino’s restaurants. In 1992, Chris transferred to MA to live with her partner and worked at Papa Gino’s until her retirement in 2013. Christine was an accomplished artist and artisan whose artwork hangs in homes throughout the US and Europe. Over the years, Christine has been a patron of Corgi-Aid and Papillon Rescue where she helped raise funds by donating artwork for raffles and auctions, and garnered many friends in this way. In addition to her art, she loved nature and gardening, taking and sharing photos and videos, listening to classical music, visiting museums, traveling and enjoying the company of friends and family. She was a seeker of knowledge, a lover of nature and a kind and gentle soul. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 10:00 AM at Union Chapel 750 Podunk Rd. in East Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Christine’s name to “Pet Peace of Mind” at the Central MA Hospice/VNA of Southern Worcester County, 191 Pakachoag Street, Auburn, MA 10501. Pillsbury Funeral Home 163 Main St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
