Letitia M. Williamson Shrewsbury, Massachusetts Obituary

Letitia M. Williamson

It is with great sadness to announce that our beautiful mother, Letty, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her daughters on May 23. She rose to the heavens to be with her husband, Scotty, after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. Letty was born Letitia M. Cutty on July 8, 1928 to Robert and Letitia (Alix) Cutty. She was one of eleven children. She attended Commerce High School and graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, achieving her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Shortly after graduation, she met Scott A. “Scotty” Williamson, Jr. on a blind date. They soon married and were inseparable until his death in 2000. Letty and Scott bought a lake house on South Charlton Reservoir early on in their marriage and went on to create many memories there with family and friends. They also built their dream house in Shrewsbury where they raised three beautiful daughters who never wanted for anything. Letty worked at Hahnemann Hospital as an R.N. in the nursery until she retired after nearly forty years of service. Never one to be idle, Letty began waitressing at the Wexford House Restaurant for the next fourteen years; a job she truly enjoyed. Letty lived in Shrewsbury for many years and enjoyed her winters in Delray Beach, Florida, recently moving there with her daughter, Donna. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Shrewsbury Senior Center, and St. Anne’s Church. Letty was an all-around lucky person who enjoyed a good joke, a good time, and lots of laughs. She was known for her many T-shirts with outrageous sayings on them! Her positive energy and her sense of humor will be missed. When they made Letty, they broke the mold! She enjoyed going out with family and friends to cheer on the Red Sox and the Patriots. She loved an ice-cold beer “on the rocks,” also enjoying swimming and boating her entire life and was still doing her famous “hand stands” in the water for all to see. Letty was an avid ten-pin bowler and was still playing in a league until she passed! Anyone that was lucky enough to know Letty knew that her true passion was any form of gambling, especially playing bingo and hitting the casinos. She loved “the wonder of it all!” Letty was predeceased by her husband, Scott, along with her siblings, Kenneth, Donald, Stanley, Marie, Grace, Robert, Phyllis, Carlton, and Paul. She leaves three daughters, Nancy and Donna of Delray Beach, Florida, and Elaine and her husband David Gustafson of Charlton, MA. She also leaves her brother Allen of Webster, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Letty will be laid to rest with Scotty in Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury; a Mass and a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Road, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515 (https://app.donorview.com/Donation/). Letty would love it if you played a game of Keno, scratched a few tickets, played a few slots at the casino or played a game of bingo or cards – all while sending you lots of luck! The BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
