Maurice Jalbert

Maurice Alfred Jalbert passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019, at the age of 91. Maurice was born on September 13, 1928 in West Stewartstown, NH to Alfred and Anna (Boudreau) Jalbert. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Maurice attended school at St. Albert’s and remained an active member of the congregation until leaving New Hampshire in 2016. Maurice volunteered alongside his wife at the Coos County Nursing Home for over 25 years, socializing with residents and escorting them to religious services. Maurice worked for 50 years, until his retirement, at the Ethan Allen factory, alongside his family and friends. During retirement, Maurice and Lucienne traveled throughout Canada and the United States. Their annual trips to Florida to visit with their daughter, Louise, held a special place in his heart. Maurice embraced the North Country, spending much of his free time fishing, hunting and skiing. Maurice could often be found on a summer night tending to his garden. His prized raspberry bushes were enjoyed by many, especially his grandchildren, who looked forward to their August visits. Maurice was blessed to spend two years with his daughter Louise and her husband Jose before moving back to Massachusetts. Maurice leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Lucienne (Carbonneau) Jalbert of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; daughter Suzanne Jalbert and husband Thomas Wilson of New Hampshire, son Paul Jalbert and wife Cynthia of Massachusetts; grandchildren Dominique Wilson and wife Alicia, Brian Jalbert and wife Molly, Solange Wilson, Megan Showman and husband Matthew; and three great grandchildren Charlotte, Wesler and Amara. His sister, Sr. Rejeanne Jalbert, and many nephews and nieces also survive Maurice. In addition to his parents, his caring and devoted daughter, Louise Mangual, and his brothers, Pierre, Gaston, and Arthur Jalbert, preceded Maurice in death. A memorial service will be held for Maurice at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 26, 2019 at the Southgate Chapel, located at 30 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maurice’s memory can be made to St. Albert Church, 15 Church Street, West Stewartstown, NH 03597.
