Obituary for Berthe E. Ducheneau

Southbridge... Mrs. Berthe E. (Normandin) Ducheneau, age 88, of West Street passed away Thursday (June 25, 2008) at Harrington Hospital surrounded by family. She leaves her husband of sixty three years, Raymond Ducheneau. They were married April 27, 1946. She also leaves her daughter and son-in-law Carla and Edward Bergeron Jr. of Southbridge and her grand-daughter Sarah Bergeron and her fiancé Jonathan Katz, as well as two sisters Alice and her husband Clifford Muldoon of Southbridge and Ida and her husband Normand Viens of Southbridge, as well as nieces and nephews.

She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Charles N. and Nelida (Savage) Normandin, and lived there all her life. She graduated from the former Notre Dame High School in 1939. She was a member of Notre Dame Church and the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Ducheneau enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and reading, but most of all spending time with her family. She retired as an administrative assistant at L&P Converters and previously worked as a legal secretary for the Americal Optical Company.

The funeral will be Tuesday (June 30th) from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., Southbridge with a Mass at 10AM at St. Hedwig's Church, Everett Street, Southbridge. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday evening from 6-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harrington Hospital/ICU Dept, care of Nursing Administration, 100 South Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.

The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU, ECC and Respiratory Departments as well as Drs. Litani, Dunn and Lebow and Tumolo of Harrington Hospital for their continued care, compassion and support in the care of our beloved Berthe.
