Charlton.....Chan W. Colby, age 43, of Northside Road died Dec.16th from injuries after being stricken while crossing Route 20. He leaves his mother Carolyn (Sherbert) Colby with whom he lived and a sister Kelly A. (Colby) Brunelle of Charlton. He also leaves a nephew Nicholas Stevens, and 2 nieces Courtney and Rebecca "Becca" Brunelle of Charlton, and uncle Joseph Sherbert and his wife Jenny of Lorain, Ohio, his Godmother and aunt Susan (Sherbert) Hill and her husband Jack of Southbridge, and aunts Patricia Taylor and her husband Richard of Southbridge, Maureen Gaumond and her husband Ronald of Ludlow, Sandra Bowman and her husband Richard of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Martha Colby Kollios and her husband Neal of Derry, NH, and many cousins.
Chan was born in Southbridge son of the late M. Wayne Colby, Jr who died in 1997. He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional H.S. in 1984 and was employed at Verizon. He served 4yrs. in the United States Marine Corps. Chan was an active member of the Charlton Federated Church serving with the Missionary Group. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, 4-wheeling, canoeing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Dec, 22, 2009, at 11AM at the Charlton Federated Church 64 Main St. Charlton, MA. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Charlton Federated Church Missions Committee 64 Main St. Charlton, MA 01507. Burial services will be private.
