Southbridge... Ismael Alicea, Sr., 78, of Worcester Street died Tuesday, Nov. 16th, at UMass Memorial Healthcare/University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his former spouse Josefa Castro and their 6 children, Ismael Alicea, Jr of Dudley, Madeline Alicea, Evelyn Alicea, Maryjane Alicea, Francisco Garcia, all of Florida, and Mirian Shaffer of NC, and 4 stepchildren Rhonda Colon of Southbridge, Doreen Montalvo of Oxford, Anita Cohen and Patrick Desmarais of Florida. He also leaves 2 brothers Marcial Alicea of Southbridge, Marcelino Alicea of Holyoke, and 2 sisters Rosalia Alicea, and Amparo Alicea both of Puerto Rico, 22 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and many friends.. He was predeceased by a son Jimmy Alicea of Philadelphia who died Sept. 16, 2010, a grandson, Franciso Garcia, Jr., and 2 brothers Jesus M. Alicea and Jesus Alicea and a sister Elvira Alicea. He was born in Comerio, PR, son of Obdulio Alicea and Benedicta Bermudes and lived here for many years. He worked as a polisher at Incom for many years. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church.
The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 20th, from Sansoucy Funeral Home 40 Marcy St. Southbridge with a Mass at 9AM at St. Mary's Church 263 Hamilton St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 19th, at the funeral home from 4-7PM.
