Sturbridge...Lorraine A. (Cournoyer) Langevin, 88, died February 7, 2014, at home. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Langevin who died in 1990. She is survived by three daughters Linda Jowett of Southbridge, and her fiancé David Zonia, Denise and her husband Eustachio "Gus" Staffieri of Southbridge, and Lise and her husband David Travinski of Southbridge, 5 grandchildren Lisa (Staffieri) Wrisley and her husband John of Londonderry, NH, Julie (Staffieri) Baker and her husband Kevin of Littleton, MA, Scott Jowett of W. Hartford, CT, Adam Travinski of Medford, MA, and Kara (Travinski) Southard and her husband Robert of Chicago, IL, and 4 great-grandchildren Dylan and Gabriella Wrisley, and Isabel and Brennan Baker. She also leaves a brother Albert Cournoyer and his wife Lucie of Fitchburg, MA, and her longtime loving companion Edwin Swiatek of Southbridge, many nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Rene Cournoyer of Southbridge, MA.
Born in Southbridge, January 13, 1926, she was the daughter of Dorila and Mathilda (Pouliot) Cournoyer. She was a member of Notre Dame Church, its Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, and graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School Class of 1944. She was a volunteer member of Harrington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Langevin and her husband Albert owned and operated Langevin Jewelers from 1949-1990. She and her daughter Lise continued the business after the death of her husband until her retirement in 1998. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and their families, and many friends. She enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, dancing, dining out, chatting with friends on her computer and enjoyed boating at Cedar Lake. She enjoyed living in her hometown of Southbridge for many years, and her lake home in Sturbridge.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014, at 11AM at Notre Dame Church 446 Main Street Southbridge. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery.
