Sturbridge...Mary (Maribeth) Aloia, 75, died peacefully on Sunday, February 23,2014 with her family by her side. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Paul Aloia, daughter Karen Aloia and granddaughter Brianna Kachadoorian both of Worcester. She also leaves a sister Patricia Nolan and brother Robert Romberg both from upstate New York, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stanley and Nanci MacGowan of Glen Cove, NY, a sister-in-law Debra Aloia of Bedford, TX, and was predeceased by her brother-in-law Phil Aloia (2007), and leaves many nieces and nephews. Her son, John Aloia predeceased her at the age of 19 in 1984.
Mary and Paul moved to Brimfield, MA in 1973 where her passion was the restoration of their 200 year old colonial. She was an avid artist who enjoyed oil painting and who had a knack for interior design. She had a love for antiques and enjoyed scouring flea markets and garage sales to sell at her business, Hilltop Antiques and rented space at Sturbridge Antiques. She would spend many hours outside gardening on their property in Brimfield. She had a special connection and love for animals, especially dogs and her favorites Hooch and Ziggy.
She was born in Seattle, daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Pile) Romberg, and later moved to Rochester (Chili) NY early in her youth. She graduated from West H.S. and Rochester Institute of Technology both of Rochester, NY
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014, from Sansoucy Funeral Home 40 Marcy Street Southbridge with a service at 10AM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church 446 Hamilton Street Southbridge. Burial will follow at Brimfield Cemetery Wales Road, Brimfield, MA. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, February 27, from 4-7PM.
