O. Normand Mercure, 95, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster. He leaves his wife of 41 years Anna R. (Piccione) Mercure. He is survived by 3 sons, Ovide Mercure and his wife Marilyn of Abbeville, LA, Paul Mercure and his wife Kathy of Milford, Ronald Lariviere and his wife Kathy of Ware, MA, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. He also leaves a sister Lucille Champagne of Southbridge, and a brother Raymond Mercure of W. Harwich, MA, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Roger Lariviere, 2 brothers Corade Mercure, Gerard Mercure, and a sister Lorraine Talisman. He was born in Southbridge, November 17, 1918, son of Ovide and Emma (Belanger) Mercure. He graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School, Class of 1937. He co managed the former Ovide's Restaurant with his brothers, and owned the Drummer Boy Restaurant, Village Drummer Restaurant, Sturbridge House Restaurant and was a Selectman for the Town of Sturbridge for six years. He retired to Florida for 38 years and moved back to Massachusetts for the last 5 years. He was a Master Mason, a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, and a 60 year Shriner with the Springfield Shrine Center. He enjoyed playing cribbage.
