Sturbridge/Southbridge...Paula Grace (Mannie) Gatineau originally of Sturbridge, MA died Wednesday, March 5th at Quaboag on the Common in West Brookfield after a long illness.

She leaves behind three children: Roberta (Gatineau) Barbour of Astoria, OR, Paul Gatineau and his wife Debbie Hand Gatineau of Oregon City, OR and Wren Gatineau of Astoria, OR. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Ramona, Ellen, Jesse, Matthew, Larisa and Chelsea, and ten great-grandchildren: Simon, Skylar, Serenity, Josephine, Gabriel, Amethyst, Aurora, Aiden, Drake and James. In addition, she leaves behind her sister Gloria Buckley of Spencer, MA and sister-in-law Georgette Gatineau of Mashpee, MA. She was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Gatineau (Grandson of Felix Gatineau) originally of Southbridge, MA.

She was born in Sturbridge June 14, 1924, daughter of Henri and Blanche (Davignon) Mannie.

Paula lived a full life highlighted by family, travel and a long and successful career in real estate. She always said that her greatest joy was her children and in her later years that also came to include her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Paula moved from the East Coast to the Los Angeles, CA area when her children were young. At that time she began what would become a very successful forty year career as a real estate broker. Throughout this time, she sold homes and estate properties in the San Fernando Valley, breaking many sales records and receiving awards for her efforts. One of her favorite things to do was to travel; she made several trips to Europe and even took a Dixieland Jazz river cruise in the South. Once her husband retired, they also spent their time at many of the jazz clubs including volunteering for the Anaheim Jazz Festival every year. Over the years, she regularly contributed to children’s charities, oftentimes purchasing large amounts of Christmas presents for organizations to hand out to families in need. After her husband passed away she moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to her sister, and briefly resided in Southbridge once more before her declining health necessitated the move to Quaboag.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery located at 1390 Main St., Agawam.
