Springfield, Massachusetts- Maria M Diaz-Capetillo, 89, passed away on June 20. Maria was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 27 to Ramon Diaz Diaz and Francisca Capetillo. She was a woman of Great faith. In the late 1940s, Maria received an Associate's Degree from Ramirez College at Santurce, Puerto Rico. She went on to work for the Senate of Puerto Rico as an Executive Secretary in the 1950s. Maria then became a stay-home-mother to raise her children. Maria met Esquirio Caraballo her late husband, who past away in 2013. Maria and Esquirio lived at Puerto Rico until moving to Springfield, MA in 2003. Maria loved her church were she was a member of La Primera Iglesia De Dios Inc. (Translate to: The First Incorporated Church of God). Maria was a prophet that God used many times to communicate his will and warn of future tribulation. Maria passed away at Baystate Medical Center, on June 20, 2019, She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughters and sons; Evelyn Caraballo, Jorge Mercado, Miguel Mercado, Carlos Mercado, Orlando Mercado, Maritza Galeno, Wilfredo Galeno, Ramon Mercado, and Irma Mercado. Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren including; Esteban Ortiz, Dimaries Mercado, Mariaelena Mercado, Luis Mercado, Stephanie Mercado, Nashari Mercado, Monica Mercado, Miguel Mercado Ortega, Jose Sanchez, Armando Mercado, and many more. She will be greatly missed. The calling house will be held at Puerta del Cielo funeral home Springfield, MA on Wednesday June 26, 2019 from 9:30 an - 11am followed by a burial in The Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield Ma.
