Nicholas Claudio Obituary

Springfield - Nicholas Paul Claudio (Robles), 24 -- passed away Sunday, September 27th, 2020. Nicholas (known to his loved ones as “Nicky”) was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 4th, 1995, to his parents Paul Claudio and Antonia Robles-Claudio. He was very proud of his Puerto Rican culture and traditions; especially the love of a large family filled with many nights of dancing, playing dominoes and large gatherings. Nicholas graduated as Valedictorian of his 2014 graduating class at High School at Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy, where he also served as Senior Class President. Nicky not only excelled in academics, but he was also extremely athletic and played multiple varsity sports including the Springfield Longhorns Football team, where he subsequently recruited his brother, Alex, and his cousins as teammates. In 2014, Nicky joined as a brother to Nu Chapter of Phi Lota Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and was known as “Don Servidor” in Spanish; in English, “Mr. Servant Leader'', which describes his sense of service to others. He began his post high-school studies at Boston University. His love of sunsets led him to transfer his sophomore year to Santa Barbara City College in California, where he lived on the beach, chasing sunsets and a degree in Mathematics. Nicky will receive a posthumous honorary degree from Santa Barbara City College, California. Nicholas was very much loved by his family, his community in Massachusetts, Puerto Rico and California, and will be dearly missed. He was a role model and inspiration to all that knew him. Nicky’s beautiful bright smile brought light into the lives of those around him. Nicholas leaves to cherish his memories, his parents Paul and Antonia; his brother Alexander, his sisters: Shakira and Yashira. He also leaves his paternal grandmother Isabel Claudio Ortiz. He is survived by many of aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins from the Claudio and Robles family. Calling Hours will be at Blessed Sacrament Church on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 40 Waverly Street, Springfield, MA, followed by a private burial in Oak Grove Cemetery 426 Bay Street Springfield Massachusetts.
