Nigel Elton Eger, 29, passed away suddenly on October 23, 2019. Born on February 17th,
1990, Nigel grew up in West Springfield, MA and spent most of his childhood with friends
on basketball courts and soccer fields throughout Western Massachusetts. Nigel was
charismatic; he had an infectious smile and an endearing spirit that would warm up a
room. His passions were professional sports (with his favorite being basketball),
weightlifting, and music (shout out to Lil’ Wayne). Nigel attended West Springfield Public
Schools and went on to fulfill his destiny as a motivation for others in his role as a Personal
Trainer. Nigel’s personal training certifications enabled him to make such a positive, and
enormous impact on so many lives. Throughout his career in the fitness industry, he was a
coach at Orange Theory Fitness, an instructor at Studio E Fitness, and a freelance personal
trainer who led individuals, teams and groups towards their personal goals. Nigel has left a
permanent mark on all who knew him and will live on in the hearts of many. He was
preceded in death by his mother Jean Eger; grandparents Barbara “Mimi” Eger and
Raymond “Bampa” Eger; and uncle Jeffrey Eger all of West Springfield. He leaves behind his
significant other, Anika Torres; aunt Rosemary Eger; cousins James, Jessica, and Alison
Eger, all lovingly known as “brother” and “sisters”; goddaughter, Emma Langevin; nieces,
Addyson Eger and Olivia Swett; nephew, Carlos Pagan; his lovable Rottweiler, Xena; and
Chosen Family; Regina Burns; Kevin Pisano; Brendan Murphy; Timothy Liquori; Justin
Frometa; and the entire Torres Family. Nigel’s Celebration of Life is open to all who knew
him and will be held at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA
on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4-7pm. A formal Memorial Service will begin at 5:30pm,
the family hopes to see you all there. Flowers for the service can be sent to 27 Hanover
