Springfield - Rafael Vega Martinez ,73, passed away on Thursday, April 9th, 2020. Rafael was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico, on August 30, 1946, to his parents Thomas Vega and Matilde Martinez. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers: Alfredo Vega, Cesar Vega and Tomas (Pichao) Vega, four sisters: Hilda Nelly Vega, Gracia Vega, Milagros Vega, and Tomasa Vega. Rafael lived in Springfield all of his adult life. He enjoyed fishing, listening to Puerto Rican music from the old days, messing with his cars, and watched all episodes of Wheel of Fortune. He was also a collector of family photos which he proudly displayed on all of the walls in his apartment. Rafael leaves to cherish his memories: his longtime girlfriend: Elba Galindez, seven daughters: Maria Ligus, Omayra Farmer, Sonia Figueroa, Elizabeth Vega, Maria E, Vega, Zo-raya Vega and Vanessa Vega, eight grandchildren: Bianca Ligus, Joshua Ligus, Dennis Ortiz, Anthony Rosa, Chelsea Quinones, Crystal Vega, Kayla Farmer, and Leah Farmer, six great grandchildren, a brother: Enio Vega, a sister: Margarita Perez, and many loving nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, New York and Puerto Rico.
