Obituary for Daniel John Hegarty

A Funeral Mass for Daniel John Hegarty, Jr., 75, will be celebrated on Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Newton.Mr. Hegarty, a son of the late Daniel and Rosalie J. (LaPierre) Hegarty, was born in Haverhill. He was a graduate of Saint James High School in Haverhill and has lived in Watertown since 1958. During the Korean Conflict he served in the US Army and after the war was employed as a Clerk for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Tomas Cardinal O'Fiaich Division 14, Watertown, and a friend of Bill W. Mr. Hegarty died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at his residence.He was the beloved husband for 51 years of Mary Lee (Shaddick); devoted father of Mark D. Hegarty and his wife Sharon of Waltham, Matthew G. Hegarty and his wife Lesley of Stoneham, Susanne M. Johnson and her husband Richard of Sudbury and Lauren A. Hegarty Tattrie and her husband Christopher of Watertown; dear brother of Richard A. Hegarty of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Rosalie J. Beaulieu of Warrendale, VA, Therese J. Granger of Bath, ME, David F. Hegarty of No. Andover and the late Margaret M. Holland, Raymond M. Hegarty, James P. Hegarty, William J. Hegarty and Helen A. Hegarty; and loving grandfather of Ryan P. Hegarty, Gregory G. Johnson, Bryan D. Johnson, Shannon M. R. Johnson, Aurise S. Tattrie and Daniel K. Tattrie. The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 3-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street.
