A Funeral Mass for Helen Rita (Glynn) Collins, 89, will be celebrated on Friday, November 14. 2008 in the Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton.
Mrs. Collins, one of four daughters of Thomas F. and Jane C. (Davis) Glynn, was born in Watertown. Helen lived all her life in Watertown, graduated from St. Patrick Grammar School and the Catholic Commercial Institute (St. Patrick High School).
She was the beloved wife of William Christopher Collins for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her siblings: Mary C. Glynn, Grace J. Burns and Dorothy F. Neary. Helen's devotion to family and friends exemplified the goodness that made her special to all who knew her.
She is survived by four children: daughter Mary Jane Walsh and her husband Jim Walsh and their children: Jennifer Payne and her husband Shannon, Jacqueline Young and her husband Jay; a son John T. Collins and his wife Amy Collins of Palm Beach, Fl, and children: David Collins and his wife Maria, Brian Collins and his wife Jessica, and Stephane Safar; another daughter, Rita A. Lazisky and her husband Ron Lazisky of Sandown, NH, and their children: Allison Hultman and her husband Paul, Matthew Ings and his wife Kristina, Ronnie Lazisky, Jr. and his wife Jill, Josh Lazisky and his wife Joni and Patrick Holland; and, another son, Daniel G. Collins and his wife Margie Walsh of Medway and their children: Megan, Courtney, Bill and Mark Collins.
Helen always had a special place in her heart for her "little ones" great-grandchildren: Madison and Nick Young, Brendan and Ryan Payne, Tyler and Samantha Collins, Pete Hultman and Talya Lazisky. Left to treasure her memory are special friends Helen Collins and Peg Mulvaney.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 14, Watertown. She once had worked at United Parcel Service in Watertown and enjoyed knitting especially afghans. She died on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in the Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham.
A Visiting hour will be held on Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:300 o'clock in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., Rte 20, Watertown followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
