Obituary for Mary E. Faherty

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 30, 2013 in the Church of St. Patrick, Watertown at 9 AM, for Mary E. “Betty” (O’Hara) Faherty.

Betty, a daughter of the late Michael & Rose (Monahan) O’Hara, died in the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston on Thursday December 26, 2013 after a brief illness. She was 68 years old.

Mary “Betty” Faherty grew up in Watertown, MA and was a 1963 graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Watertown. She went on to graduate from St. Elizabeth's Nursing School and became an RN at St. Elizabeth’s in Brighton, joining her sisters in the field.

Betty was a very proud grandmother to identical twin girls and loved to spoil them. Her passions included knitting, reading and spending time in Wareham at her sister Peggy's beach house.

Betty will be remembered for her gentle personality and caring nature. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She was the loving mother of Maureen A. Faherty of Boston, Karen E. Lehane & her husband Jeremy of Canton and Matthew T. Faherty & his wife Kristi of Hudson. Loving grandmother of twin grand-daughters Ashlyn & Keira. Dear sister of Peggy C. O’Hara of Watertown, Janice M. Aucoin & her husband Edward of Waltham and Michael J. O’Hara and his wife Janet of Leominster. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 29th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown, MA. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Monday, December 30th at 9:00 am at St Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, MA. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 999 Belmont Street, Watertown, MA .
