A Funeral Mass for Millard L. "Jack" Scudder, 80, will be celebrated Friday May 7th, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick Church, 212 Main Street, Rte. 20, Watertown, MA.
He was born on December 7, 1929 in Freeport IL, a son of Lee C. and Kathryn A. (Resh) Scudder. Growing up in a family with 20 children, Mr. Scudder joined the military early on, as did 7 of his brothers. He spent 20 yrs in the Navy, aboard the USS Norris, USS Willard Keith, USS Yellowstone, and USS Boxer. He served at the end of WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.A member of the Veterans of Foreighn Wars and Elks, he was proud of his military service and entertained many with his "war stories".
Mr. Scudder lived in Burlington and Belmont, before settling in Swansboro NC. He enjoyed sitting on a sunny porch, with his pipe and his beloved Siberian Husky, Blue Baron. Mr. Scudder died April 21, 2010, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center in Swansboro NC, after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Rita C. (Loughlin) Scudder of Watertown; father of Robert M. Scudder and his wife Kristin Kladstrup of Watertown, Christine M. Diamond and her husband Steven of Tewksbury, MSgt. (USMC) Thomas J. and his wife Lisa Scudder of Swansboro NC. Grandfather of John and Tommy Scudder, Katie and Sean Diamond, Coral and Corey Scudder, and Kylie, Cheyne and Josh Sigger. He was the brother of Lee Scudder of IL, Franklin Scudder of IL, David Scudder of NV, Emanuel Scudder of CA, Vernon Scudder of IL, Norma Hille of IL, Kathryn King of IL, Myrtle Schneider of CA, Betty Amodeo of IL, Barbara Stuckwisch of NE, Mary Lou of IL. Also the late Robert, Charles, Albert, Curtis, Leona Weber, Dorothy Scudder, Rose Mani, and Edna Baker.
Interment will follow the Funeral Mass on Friday in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.
