A Funeral Mass for Parmina Marie (Ceglio) Parrella, 88, will be celebrated on Monday, May 3, 2010, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Parrella, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Lucia (Lombardi) Ceglio, was born in Concord, Mass. The family moved to Watertown when she was 3 years old and Mrs. Parrella has resided in the town for rest of her life. She was a graduate of Saint Patrick Grammar School in Watertown and Girls Trade School in Boston. As a seamstress, she worked at the Moody Dress Company in Waltham for many years until retiring in1984, and held membership in the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Waltham Local. Mrs. Parrella died on Monday, April 26, 2010, in the Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge.
Mrs. Parrella loved a party and never missed an invitation to join family and friends in a celebration of life’s milestones. Cooking for others gave her great pleasure and homemade pasta was always on the menu. Holidays and special events always meant lots of food preparation. She delighted in having a well-fed crowd around her table. Working with her hands was a talent that she exhibited not only in her cooking and sewing but also in her crocheting. She gifted many of her friends and family members with hand-made afghans over the years which will always carry memories as one of her favorite pastimes.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Parrella who died in December 1996; devoted mother of Vincent Parrella and his wife Mary Ellen of Acton and the late Joan M. Parrella; dear sister of Jeannette Omobono of Waltham, Mary Ferranti of North Kingstown, RI, Peter Ceglio of Newport Coast, Calif. and the late Major Patrick Sigleo (US Army, ret.) and Stella DiLuzio; loving grandmother of Kathryn Ann Calnan and her husband Michael of Medway, MA, Michael Parrella and his wife Kristen of Jackson Heights, NY, Andrew Parrella and his wife Joan Cross of Loudon, NH and Emily Bukow and her husband Stephen of South Boston, MA; and loving great-grandmother of Kaitlyn, Caroline and Megan Calnan and Lillian Parrella. She was also well loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 2nd from 2-6 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
