Obituary for Salvatore A. Tobio

A Funeral Mass for Salvatore A. "Chick" Tobio, 76, will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2007, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.Mr. Tobio, born in Boston, was a lifelong Watertown resident and attended Saint Patrick Schools. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed overseas in Korea and Hawaii. After the war he went to work for the Town of Watertown and stayed with the Department of Public Works for over 30 years. He retired twenty years ago from the Water Department. Mr. Tobio loved pets and enjoyed caring for all types of animals. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Pequossette Aerie 1928, Watertown. Mr. Tobio died on Saturday morning, February 9, 2008 in the Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, after a brief illness.He was the beloved son of the late Salvatore A. and Angelina M. (Egizio) Tobio; dear brother of Louise Scalzi and Mary Tompkins of Framingham, Joan Dirienzo of Londonderry, NH, Ruth A. Tobio of Burlington, Irene MacDonald of Waltham and the late John J. Tobio and Army Cpl. Anthony Tobio who was killed in action in Korea. Also the brother-in-law of David Tompkins, Domenic Dirienzo, Walter MacDonald, Jr. and the late Dominic Scalzi and Frances Tobio; cherished uncle to 10 nieces and nephews and 9 grandnieces and grandnephews; and caretaker and friend of Pumpernickel, Pepper, Mother and Buddy. The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 o'clock in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be on Monday, February 11th from 4-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS), 2100 L St. NW, Washington, DC 20037; the Mass. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), 300 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844; or to any other Humane Society for the care of stray animals.
