Watts, Mary M. (Gallagher) of Newton passed away peacefully at her home on July 19, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Gail Yazbek and her husband Michael of Milford, NH, son Scott Watts of Newton and her daughter-in-law, Karen Watts, of Belmont. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Paul Watts. Mary was a devoted sister to Rev. Edward L. Gallagher Jr., Hugh A. Gallagher and his wife Marilyn. She was also the sister to James and John (Jack) Gallagher, who departed before her. She was also lovingly known as “Aunt Mary” to many nieces and nephews. Mary cherished her lifelong friends from childhood and throughout her life. Mary was born in Waltham and raised in Newton. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Regis College in 1951. She was an employee of the Veterans Administration for over 25 years, working as a Medical Technologist in various VA hospitals and outpatient clinics around the Boston area. After retiring from the VA in 1996, she happily worked as a part-time sales associate at the former Filene's department store in Chestnut Hill. Mary treasured spending time with her beloved family and friends and she will be deeply missed. Funeral from the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte. 16), West Newton, Monday, July 24 at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bernard Church, West Newton at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 PM. Interment in Newton Cemetery.
