Thomas Brehm

Brehm, Thomas Bernard , Tom, 90 years old, resident of Newton, MA, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Stone Institute. Born in Roxbury, MA, September 22, 1922, he was the youngest child of eight and son of Joseph and Mary Brehm. Tom was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Roxbury. He was a retired 30-year employee of the Jordan Marsh Company. Tom was married for 53 years to Mary Helen Russo, of Newton, until her death in 2007. As a long time resident of Newton, he enjoyed golf, baseball, football, and travel with his wife Helen. He and Helen were choir members of the Sacred Heart Church in Newton, where they met. He later became choir director at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes in Newton. Tom and Helen ran the Newton Meals on Wheels program for 20 years. Many nieces, nephews, two sisters-in-law, cousins, and grand and great grand nieces and nephews will miss Tom. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday September 23, 2013, at 10:30 at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church in Newton, MA. Interment will be private at the U.S. National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, at a later date. Burke & Blackington Funeral Home in West Newton, MA made funeral arrangements. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stone Institute, Patient Activities Fund, 277 Elliot Street, Newton Upper Falls, MA, 02464.
