Loretta Jenkins

Loretta J. Jenkins, 77, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at her home. She was born March 10, 1933 in Menden, LA the daughter of Aaron Washington and Lucille (Houston) Warren. Loretta moved to Battle Creek in 1947, where she attended Battle Creek Central High School. She married Jewell F. Jenkins, Sr. on May 27, 1950 and they were married for 55 years. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2006. Loretta was employed by Battle Creek Central High School for 35 years and she was familiar to everyone who purchased tickets for Battle Creek Central sporting events. Surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Delores) Jenkins of Ypsilanti, Jerell (Mericzel) Jenkins of Vallejo, CA, Janet Cross of Battle Creek; brothers, Aaron Washington, R. D. Warren; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of Bearcat children. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jewell F. Jenkins, Jr. and brother, Booker T. Washington.
