DUANE ARTHUR “SPUD” WARNER 88, of Deford, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in McLaren Bay Region, Bay City. He was born August 7, 1932 at home in Deford to Lloyd and Effie (Cuer) Warner. He married Mary Jane McInally May 24, 1952 in the Novesta Baptist Parsonage, Decker. Duane was given the nickname Spud, by his brother Glen, when he was very young. He graduated from Cass City High School in 1949 and eventually went to work for GM Flint Buick for thirty years. Duane enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan, deer hunting and elk watching. Duane loved playing baseball, especially in his later years, with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cass City and bowled on their church league. Duane is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; sons: Clinton (Janice) Warner of Deford; Jeffery Warner of Deford; grandchildren: Amanda Warner; Tyler (Kathleen) Warner; great-grandchildren: Jayce Hill, Brody Warner, Lilly Warner; step-grandchildren: Randy Sommer, John Sommer; nephew, Scott Warner; niece, Linda Walker. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, James Warner; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Dorothy Warner; sister, Harriet Warner; grandson, Lee Sommer; niece, Karen Craft; daughter-in-law, Tanya Warner. Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Christian Wright of First Baptist Church of Cass City officiating. Interment in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cass City. Family and friends may share memories, prayers, and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com. Attendees are kindly reminded to wear a mask or other facial covering while inside the funeral home. Social distancing and limitations on numbers gathered in the funeral home will be observed.
