Thomas Leister

Thomas J. Leister, 81, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Bronson American Legion at the church, cremation will follow. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 4-8:00 PM, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson Thomas was born March 23, 1936 in South Bend, IN to Eugene & Sally (Wilcox)Leister. He served in the US Marine Corps at the end of the Korean War. Tom married Suzanne Fox on September 28, 1958 in South Bend, IN. Mr. Leister was a salesman for the Coleman Company for 25 + years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Marine Corp League, Knights of Columbus and the Bronson American Legion. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and founding member of the NWTF and loved to hunt and fish. Tom is survived by his wife Suzie, his children Scott (Gail) Leister of Middlebury, IN, Tammy (Michael) Merfeld of St. Joe, half siblings Brian Haack of Jackson, Sharon Rehm of Suzie, FL, his grandchildren Sean Leister, Erin Brown, Andrew Leister, Katie Leister, Maggie Bell and great granddaughter Darby Brown. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Leister in 2013 and his brother Frederick Leister. Memorials may be directed to the Bronson American Legion or the Knights of Columbus. www.dutcherfh.com
