Franklin F. Jackson

FRANKLIN FREDERICK JACKSON “A Life Rich with Purpose, Promise, Prayer & Power” We celebrate the life and memory of Mr. Franklin Frederick Jackson whose journey began July 28, 1936 in Savannah, GA where he was the 5th child born to his parents, the late Joseph and Alice Jackson. His siblings Charles, Joseph, Sarah, and Vivian all preceded him in death. After the death of Frank’s father, his mother remarried and two siblings Grady and Alice (LaVerne) Demery were born. Frank attended school in Chatham County Public Schools in Savannah, GA. He gave his life to Christ and was famously known for playing the guitar. He proudly played and sang with many groups including The former Mid South Singers of Savannah & The former Detroit Harmoneers. In 1951, he married the absolute joy of his life, Juanita Stewart and for 70 years they treasured each other. They were blessed with three children, Sherlene, Deborah and Franklin. Sherlene and Franklin preceded him in death. While in Savannah, Frank worked at the former Neal Blunt Company. In 1953 searching for a higher paying job, he moved his family to Detroit, MI where at first he worked for The Serta Mattress Company. When General Motors started hiring, in 1962, he landed a job at the Warren Assembly Plant. The management realizing that he was an ambixious and hard working young man, granted him many promotions throughout his employment until his retirement in 1992 as a Supervisor in the Hydra-Matic Department. Everyone will always remember Frank’s attention to those in need. If anyone was sick or experiencing the loss of a loved one, he was the first to show up and show love. Even though Frank missed his siblings Charles Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Sarah Gordon, and Vivian Jennings, his precious memories of them were kept alive when their sons & daughters did not fail to faithfully keep in touch with him. Frank became very tired and God knew that he needed rest. So on Saturday, May 15, 2021, he answered the call and peacefully slipped away to sleep. We have this hope that one day we will meet him again and live together throughout eternity. Even though Frank will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him, he leaves to cherish his memory: His devoted wife, Juanita Jackson; one daughter, Deborah Nesbitt; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Grady Demery, one sister Alice LaVerne Brawner, three brother-in-laws, Alfred (Chris) Stewart of Fayetteville, NC, Johnny (Ethel) Stewart of Boston, MA, & Herman (Alberta) Skipper of Savannah, GA; a loving, caring & compassionate host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
