Pamela Heard Obituary

Pamela was born in Ferndale, Michigan to Willieann (nee. Green, d.) and Ores Heard (d.) on September 27, 1955. She was the fourth of six children. Growing up, Pam was an especially social and active child, becoming a majorette at Presentation Our Lady of Victory (POLOV) grade school. Although she held many friendships with children all around the neighborhood, Pamela stood firmly in her tall boney frame with her chin up against any bullies challenging her [or her younger brothers]. Even after losing a tussle or two, she never backed down from proudly facing adversity head on. Pamela went on to study at Immaculata High School, developing a fondness for mathematic studies, and then studying for two years at Albion College. Pamela welcomed her first child and son, Brandon Heard in April 1981, and second child and daughter, Lauren Heard in March 1986. Pam was a thoughtful and deeply compassionate leader in each of the roles she served throughout her career and personal life. For over 20 years she held several roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan with a primary focus supporting core IT programs. Throughout that time, she established many close friendships with colleagues outside her immediate team, always lending an ear and offering support on work outside of her own and mentored many associates. Pamela was a deeply devote Catholic and woman of faith. Throughout her life she actively stewarded family, friends, co-workers and strangers toward a deeper relationship with their faith and Catholicism. Over the years some of the roles she served within the church include: Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Worship Committee member, and Choir member at POLOV church. She was also an active member of Old Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, frequently attending and serving at mass during the week. Pam loved her hometown of Detroit and was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings. Over the years she grew fond of hopping in the car and driving the family around the city to explore historic sites, new renovation, and former neighborhoods of our late family members along Ann and Ores’ family trees. Pamela, Pam, Mom, Twigg, Auntie Peanut, Grandma – are among the many terms of endearment that we knew her by, was indiscriminately selfless and loving. She will be missed by so many communities that she touched. Pamela is preceded in death by her parents, Ores and WillieAnn Heard, sister, JoAnne, and brother, Ores Jr. Pamela is survived by her children Brandon Heard and Lauren Heard; grandchildren Kealan Heard and Kylee Heard; and siblings Constance Walker-Holland (Tony), Michael Heard (Rolanda), and Patrick Heard; and nephews Wesley and Steven Walker, Bryan Heard, and a niece Taniya Walker, along with a host of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
