Arnold Michael Hanner Obituary

Arnold “Mike” Michael Hanner- age 70 of Clare, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Mike was born to parents Albert Milton and Arvilla (Wixson) Hanner on September 5, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating from Ainsworth High School, Mike attended Mott Community College and received his associate’s degree and became employed by General Motors as an electrician. After his retirement as a Local # 659 UAW member, Mike became involved with many local clubs and organizations. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time with grandchildren, was a member of the Lake Rod & Gun Club, Lake Eagles, American Legion Post, VFW, Weidman Masonic Lodge #424 where he served as both Worshipful Master and Secretary, and Moose Lodge. Mike was a loyal and enthusiastic Detroit Lions and Tiger fan. Mike is survived by his father Al Hanner of Clare, son Brett Hanner and wife Rachal of Farwell, daughters; Amy Carpenter and husband Joshua of Lodi, OH, Valerie Hanner of Lake Orion, Kathrine Wither and husband Mitch of Ortonville, seven grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, brother Albert D. Hanner and wife Janice of Naples, FL., sister Pam Hanner and wife Gene of Clare, and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Arvilla and sister Patty. A funeral service is planned for Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. American Legion Post # 588 will conduct military honors following the funeral service. Pastor Jim Young will officiate followed by a luncheon at the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, October 14th from 4 until 8PM. At 7:30 PM on Sunday, A memorial service will be conducted by the James Cliff Masonic Lodge # 424. Please consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Shriner’s Hospital in lieu of flowers. Contribution envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
