Richard Edward Wells Obituary

Richard "Dick" Edward Wells- age 75 of Lake, passed away on September 2, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Dick was born on December 18, 1941 to parents Edward Lee and Velma Irene (Belknap) in Wyandotte, Michigan. Dick proudly served our country with the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. Dick was married October 24, 1964 to his love in Allen Park, Michigan and together they raised three children. He made a living as an electrician, first at Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit for 25 years, followed by 10 years at the Ford Rouge Steel plant where he retired in 1999. He was a member of UAW Local #600, former Commander of the American Legion Post #472 in Melvindale, former member of the Harrison American Legion Post, a member of the Men's Club with Lake of the Pines, and a trustee with Freeman Twp. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen, son Kelly Wells and wife Cindy of Ann Arbor, two daughters; Kariann Berg and husband Paul of Commerce Township, Dawn D'Mitruchina of Romulus, three grandchildren; Sarah, Benjamin, and Samantha, two brothers Robert Wells and wife Mary of Dearborn, Michael Wells of Melvindale, four sisters; Patricia Sherman of Lake, Ruth Ann Soper of Clare, Donna O'Brien of Wayne, and Janice McEwen of Wauseon, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Daniel Wells. Keeping Dick's wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
