Kellyann Boyce-Hurlbert, of Traverse City.
Have you ever met someone that was always so happy and full of laughter? Someone who dances into a room and the entire space swells with joy? Yeah, the person you want to slap for being so chipper all the time. Well, that’s our Kelly and honestly, no one could deny that she had a way about her that made you fall instantly in love with her. Maybe it was the colorful tutus that adorned her waist on any given occasion or maybe it was her infectious laugh and occasional snort. Perhaps Kelly nailed it when she described herself, on Face book, saying “I don't judge others. I say if you feel good with what you're doing, let your freak flag fly. I'm a ridiculous human being with a sunny disposition.”
Kellyann Hurlbert, tutu-wearing, lover of pandas and Daddy’s little princess, tragically bid farewell to this world on July 5, 2013, at the tender age of 29.
Born January 30, 1984, on a snowy Northern Michigan day in Traverse City, Kelly was a lover of life and was loved by all. There wasn’t a person that met Kelly that wasn’t positively affected by her effervescent spirit. Her parents, Steve and Michelle fondly remember their blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty who loved to spend time “working’ at their family’s trout farm in Beulah. Kelly always loved the water and as a young girl she especially loved spending time with her treasured Grandma Boyce on Platte Lake.
Soccer and softball were two of her favorite ways to pass the time at Benzie Central High School, where Kelly graduated in 2003.
Kelly was successful on every path she chose in life. Her paths may have changed as often as her hair color but one thing that never wavered was her dedication and love for her family and friends. She loved to make fun of those she cared about so as to teach them how to truly laugh at themselves. No one laughed at themselves more that Kelly did. Always laughing, always loving…
Dancing wildly, jamming to music, riding her bicycle and spending time with her friends were things that Kelly loved to do. On July 15, 2012 Kelly married her soul mate, Pauly Hurlbert in a gorgeous lake-side ceremony. Her wedding, like her love for Pauly was of epic proportion and guests could often be overheard declaring that their wedding was ‘the best I have ever attended’. Kelly and Pauly’s mantra sums up their love perfectly “….When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
Kelly will always be cherished by: her loyal and adoring husband, Pauly Hurlbert of Traverse City, parents, Steve and Michelle Boyce, sister, Nicole (Chuck) Nostrandt, all of Frankfort, brothers, Craig (Shaylan) of Interlochen and Scott (Katie) of Traverse City, nephews Daymian, Brandon and Carsen, niece Hannah; in-laws, Joe (Marcella) Hurlbert, Barbara Hurlbert and Anna Hurlbert and her two 4-legged, tail-wagging babies, Zephyr and Maggie and her countless, amazing friends.
If you cannot be rock then be my water
If you cannot be savior just be my valentine
Take this heart shaped box
Fill it up
With your wants and all your worries
Your frights and all your fantasies
And you just take the ring
Hand me every other thing
And I will carry the weight
“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.”
PS. HEY SHEEP! Play Persistence!!
