Arnold James Koppenaal, age 92, of Fennville passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Douglas, Michigan.
He was born on February 9, 1922 at Holland, MI to Leonard and Theresa (Walters) Koppenaal. On September 27, 1951 he married the love of his life, Yvonne (Mokma) Koppenaal.
Arnold was a proud veteran of the United States Navy Armed Guard where he served in WWII and spent a lot of time traveling around the world.
With an outstanding 6 million miles of safe driving under his belt, Arnold spent 48 years of his life driving a truck for various companies, including Hush Puppies until he retired.
Throughout Arnold’s life, he enjoyed hiking, sailing and spending time with his family.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, John Koppenaal; and his other brothers, Paul, Bob, and Kenneth Dale Koppenaal.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne J.Koppenaal; his son Kyle (Lucy) Koppenaal; his grandchildren, Kory Koppenaal, David Storey, and Kristopher Arnold Koppenaal; his great grandchildren, Romin and Kenya Storey; his sisters Jean Dykema and Jackie Harris; his brother, Pete(Raelane) Koppenaal; his Mother-in-law, Donna Makma; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 at Community Church of Douglas, 6874 Wiley Road, Douglas, MI 49408, with Dr. Daniel M. Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Holland and the Community Church of Douglas.
