Obituary for Barbara W. Kramer

Barbara W. Kramer, age 75, of Holland, left this world Saturday, October 23, 2010 after a two year struggle with lung and bone cancer in the care of Hospice. She is looking forward to seeing our founding pastor, Father Denis Nash we spoke of so often. She was happy to have spread the Hail Mary Miracle. She dearly loved her prayer group which met every 2nd and 4th Monday each month.

She was born June 27th, 1935 in New York City, and graduated from Scarsdale High School, Scarsdale, New York. She then completed her studies at Endicott College for Women graduating in 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Florence Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, DeClarke, son Lawrence, daughters Carla and Karen, a sister Dorothy Silver of New York City, and a special niece, Carol Patterson of Wilmington, N.C. She served 25 years as a volunteer in Campbell Guild at Blodgett Hospital and was a past President. She served as Vice-President of the Millie Campbell Foundation which provides grants for medical research. She was a 30 year member of Bayshore Yacht Club.

She was a member of Michigan State Special Olympics Family Advisory Council. She and her husband were voted Special Olympics Family of the Year in 1995 and were also volunteers of the year. She was one of the organizers of the local Special Olympics Festival of Trees which raised over $1,000,000 in 13 years to support the Special Olympics programs.

She loved to travel and took many trips with her family and showed her children God’s beautiful world. She loved spending her summers at their cottage which is now their home on Lake Michigan.

We would like to thank the wonderful people at Hospice of Holland who cared for her, especially Beth Tyler.
