Obituary for Dolores (Dee) Reidel

Dolores "Dee" Reidel, age 88, died June 30th, 2007 at her home in the Inn at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan.

Dee was born in Chicago, January 4, 1919, the daughter of Anthony Ciovino and Maida Dahme. She was married to Jack H. Reidel for 61 years before his death in 1998. Their children are Carl Reidel and the late Jacqueline Reidel.

Prior to moving to Holland, Jack and Dee lived in Chicago and Oak Lawn, Illinois. They were one of the first residents of Freedom Village, deciding to live there in 1989.

Dee worked in the Freedom Village Marketing Department for over a decade as an early employee and later as a volunteer, with her dear friend Betty Jansen. During World War II Dee worked at the Pullman Company near Chicago, building bombers for the Army Air Force " one of the now famous women defense workers nicknamed "Rosie the Riveter". Following the War she worked in several financial businesses and as a real estate agent.

Dee is survived by her son:
Carl Reidel and Jean Richardson of Vermont
Five grand children
Eight great grandchildren
A sister:
Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Fredricksen of Spring Hill, Florida

A memorial service for family and friends will be 3:30 pm Sunday, July 15th, 2007 at the Community Church of Douglas 6780 Wiley Road in Douglas, where Dee and Jack were long-time members. Rev. Dennis J. De Witt will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas Community Church. Arrangements are by Lakeshore Memorial Services. An on-line registry book is available at for those who cannot attend the services.
