Obituary for Elaine Geiser

Elaine E. Geiser, age 77, of Holland died Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Hospice House of Holland.

Elaine was born July 20, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Alex and Sophia Bachunas. Alex and his brother Joseph owned Tabor Farm Resort in Sodus, Michigan and went on to own and manage other resorts including Hotel Macatawa, Prospect Point and Blaney Park where Elaine worked many summers. Elaine grew up in Sodus, attended Saint Mary’s Academy in South Bend, Indiana and was a 1948 graduate of Benton Harbor High School. She attended Michigan State College(MSU) and the Detroit College of Business. In 1953 she married Dale Geiser and moved to Holland, Michigan for the rest of her life. In Holland she was involved in the Girl Scouts and was a Den Mother in Cub Scouts. She belonged to various book clubs including Great Books, and was involved in starting and leading Junior Great Books. She volunteered for a number of other organizations, including Hospice of Holland just after its formation 25 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Dale Geiser in 2006.

She is survived by her children:

Ted Bachunas of St. Joseph, MI

Several nephews, nieces and cousins

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 4:00-6:30PM with a memorial service at 6:30PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services 11939 James Street in Holland. Father Richard Prendergast will be officiating.

A private burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Holland. An on-line registry book is available at www.lakeshorememorial.com for those who cannot attend the services.
