Obituary for John M. Miller

John M. Miller, age 95, of Holland, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Inn of Freedom Village.

He was born in Berkley, California and later moved with his parents to Michigan when he was a young boy. He graduated from the University of Michigan where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and received an engineering degree from Lawrence Tech University and also received a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Michigan Dearborn. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 33 years and was a registered professional engineer for the States of Michigan and Hawaii.

John loved Michigan football and the State of Hawaii where he was a resident for 8 years.

John served during World War II as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp as a navigator in the B-24’s. He was a member of Christ Memorial Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Ethel (Baatz) Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta and children:
Nancy and Dave Kotman of Saline, MI
Richard and Cheryl Fahrner of Kimbal, MI
Jim and Amy Miller of Traverse City, MI
11 Grandchildren
1 Great grandchild
A sister:
Marian and Hal Schulte of Livermore, CA
Several brothers and sisters in laws, nephews and nieces

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Freedom Village Auditorium (6th Floor) 145 Columbia Avenue, in Holland. Reverends William Brownson and John Kleinheksel will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, in Holland.
