Obituary for Raymond J. Biziorek

Raymond Joseph Biziorek, age 89, of Holland, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Grand Rapids, passed from the loving arms of his family into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 while at the Inn at Freedom Village.

He was born in Grand Rapids and graduated from Union High School and attended Grand Rapids Junior College for two years. He then entered the US Army during WWII, served in several European and Eastern Theaters, and retired from the Army after the war ended; retiring as a master sergeant. He received the Eastern Theater Battle Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, an Overseas Service Bar, an individual Bronze Star for “service beyond the call of duty,” a Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Carbine Sharpshooter Badge.

He held several supervisory positions with Michigan Consolidated Gas Company in Grand Rapids, MI, and Mt. Pleasant, MI, over his service of 34 years. He was a member of Central Wesleyan Church, was a member of the church board, and served as chairman of the finance committee.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Ann (Koopmans) and children:

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Freedom Village Auditorium 145 Columbia Avenue in Holland. Dr. Bill Brownson will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
