Obituary for Rose Marie MacDoniels

Rose Marie MacDoniels, age 70, of Holland, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, in Lake Wales Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Rosie was born February 20, 1941 in St. Louis Missouri to Henry E. and Mary Beth Grossenbacher. She was educated in the Ritenour Public Schools, and graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 1963 with a degree in elementary education. Rose did graduate work at the University of Kansas, and taught in the Ritenour Public Schools and in the public schools in Blue Island, Illinois, Junction City (Ft. Riley), Kansas, and Lawrence, Kansas. She was also an Adjunct Lecturer at Hope College. Rose married Joseph W. MacDoniels in 1964, and moved with Joe to Holland, Michigan in 1972. She joined the staff of Evergreen Commons in the summer of 1986, and retired as the Director of Program and Leisure Enrichment in November 2000. Rose was a former member of the First United Methodist Church and Christ Memorial Reformed Church, and is currently a member of Third Reformed Church.
Rose is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph W. MacDoniels,

A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 2, 2011, at Third Reformed Church, 111 West 13th Street, in Holland, MI. Rev. Kent Fry will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. A time of food, fellowship, and visitation will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall at the church.

A Memorial visitation will be 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday May 1, 2011, at Lakeshore Memorial Services 11939 James Street Holland, Michigan.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Rose Marie (Grossenbacher) MacDoniels ’63 Fund at Culver-Stockton College.
